With the forecast of snowfall coming up in the next couple of days with accumulation totals that could reach 3 inches the Alsip Police Department would like to inform our residents and visitors about snow routes.
Primary Snow routes are streets marked with signs designating them primary snow routes.
Secondary Snow Routes are all streets in the village that are not designated primary snow routes.
It shall be unlawful to park any motor vehicle on a public street designated as a snow route as listed below:
(a) Primary snow route. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle on primary snow routes in the village at any time within 12 hours after a snowfall of one inch or more has occurred. Appropriate signs shall be erected to inform the public of primary routes.
(b) Secondary snow route. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle on secondary snow routes in the village at any time within 24 hours after a snowfall of three inches or more has occurred. Secondary snow routes are defined as all other public streets not designated as primary snow routes.
(c) Removal of vehicles. The police department or its designated representative shall remove any vehicle from the public street, obstructing the clearing of said public street after a snowfall of three inches or more. The towing and storage charges or relocation fees for said vehicle shall be charged to the registered owner of the vehicle and constitute a lien upon said vehicle
