The Village of Alsip Traffic Safety Committee was formed to provide residents with customer service with regards to issues such as speeding, cut-through traffic, pedestrian safety, traffic control sign requests, and overall traffic safety. This committee will utilize a multi-disciplinary approach to reviewing and responding to resident requests and is represented by staff from the Village Board, Police Dept., Fire Dept. and Public Works
This Committee will meet as needed, but will submit an activity report at the 1st Board meeting of each month to discuss traffic problems and requests from residents pertaining to traffic control. Items requiring additions to the traffic code are presented to the Village board for their consideration and implementation in the form of an ordinance. After adoption of the ordinance, pertinent signage is installed by Public Works to inform motorists of those regulations, which have been either instituted or modified from previous restrictions.
The Traffic Safety Committee will utilize a petition form intended to simplify and clarify requests, which are presented to the committee for their review and recommendations.
