12-22-2016 – I had the pleasure of cutting the ribbon on the 6th Donson Machine plant in Alsip with the Bettinardi family, and many employees.  Congrats to a great Alsip business!

12-15-2016 – The American Lawman motorcycle club along with Mayor Kitching deliver truck loads of toys to  the Worth Township Christmas care program.  Hundreds of toys were donated by the V.F.W. Post 450, Canaryville Vets, Riders Association, and the Alsip Village Hall.  The American Lawman M.C. have been involved with the Worth Township Christmas care program for years and we cannot thank them enough for their participation.

12-8-2016 – As mayor of this great town I am very proud of the accomplishments made thus far on Pulaski. Our new Taco Bell and Dunkin Donuts are now open for business! ALDI expansion/remodeling is moving along at a fast pace, and according to plans this remodeling will feature a new deli. Remodeling should be complete as early as next week. I would also like to wish you all a happy and safe holiday season.  Mayor Kitching

img_0007img_000811-4-2016 – With thecoming of foul weather our busy construction season is coming to an end. Many projects in the Village are finishing up and it’s been a productive year! Our new Dunkin Donuts and our New Taco Bell on Pulaski are outstanding and nearly ready for business. Keep your eye out and pay them a visit when they do open soon! While we are speaking of Pulaski, I am happy to report that the much awaited Jewel access has been re-engineered to make entering and exiting the shopping plaza easier.

On Cicero the new addition to Aldi has been under construction for a couple of months and is also nearing completion. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday!

8-11-2016  Moving along with our Pulaski redevelopment, our two projects under construction (Dunkin Donuts and Taco Bell) are well into construction. My development team is working hard to produce other good things on Pulaski. Cicero Avenue is also producing some interesting project proposals. Stand by on that one, I will announce at the appropriate time.

Don’t forget to prepare for our Village Wide Garage Sale Friday, Saturday, and Sunday September 16th-18th. We are compiling a list of participating residents to help buyers navigate all of the great sales. The three day event will have hours of 8am to 5pm. Happy hunting …. and selling!

7-5-2016 – This past June 21st I had the distinct pleasure of welcoming the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus Environmental Committee, along with the Illinois Solar Energy Association to our IBEW-NECA technical institute. The center trains apprentices and journeymen through hands on work with:

– Photovoltaic Systems
– Electric Vehicle Infrastructure
– 5KW Wind Turbine
– Battery Energy Storage Systems

Opened last November it is the first training facility of its kind. The class and tour were well received and it was pure joy to present renewable energy systems to our Southland Mayors and Dignitaries. Our main topic for the day was solar energy and the steps Mayors can take to advance it in their communities.

Also, our new Dunkin Donuts is currently under construction at 118th and Pulaski.

5-25-2016 – I am happy to announce that our veterans plaza on Pulaski has had improvements lately with the replacing of the flag poles that suffered from wind storm damage last Veterans Day.  Our V.F.W. Post 450 and the following businesses contributed to the purchase… Alsip McDonald’s, J.A.S. Trucking, Stella’s Cafe, and Alsip Industrial Welder Rebuilders. In addition to the Alsip McDonald’s holding our fundraiser, they also donated the 30 foot flag pole that carries the American and POW flags.  Many thanks to all that participated in this venture.

There will be a brief ceremony at Veterans Plaza on memorial day Monday May 30th at 11:00 AM.  All are welcome, see you there!

2-24-2016 – Our Jewel-Osco on Pulaski has announced an eight hundred thousand dollar remodel to better serve Alsip. Much of the interior will be reconfigured to expand and become more convenient. The exterior will also see a refresh with new paint and fence repairs. As a regular Jewel shopper I look forward to these exciting improvements!

1-13-2016  Our new ECO Brite Car Wash at 121st & Cicero nears completion, the cold weather seems to be slowing progress but this business is really starting to look great!  Speaking of looking great… have you seen our totally remodeled Burger King?  They have just completed a fabulous rehab inside and out complete with a family entertainment area which is very clean and modern.  Next time your near 121st & Pulaski, stop in and check it out!

12-11-2015 – The American Lawman MC donated many toys to children who may not have gotten any presents for the holidays….. thanks guys!

12-7-2015 – The holiday season is unfolding whether we are ready or not. A recap of recent events is in order. Our new Pilot Travel Center at 127th and Kedzie is open. The IBEW is now training electricians on alternate INE energies in their new energy field (think solar and wind). Our new and fabulous McDonalds is open and the double drive through is a breath of fresh air compared to the old single drive. The dilapidated old Alsip animal hospital has been removed to make way for a new large Dunkin Donuts. Our Burger King on Pulaski is currently going through a complete rehab. On Cicero at 121st Street our new Eco Brite carwash nears completion and will open at the right time of year! We are expecting prints (plans) for another chain restaurant on Pulaski very soon, more on this later.

The all volunteer Alsip Beautification Committee decorated all village of Alsip welcome signs for the holiday season.  Kudos to them!!!IMG_0039

Also, let’s be careful out there! Holiday travelers are out and about and please remember when you shop – shop local,  SHOP ALSIP! It’s on Pulaski!

Veteran’s Day Ceremony
11-11-2015
On the eleventh month, the eleventh day, at the eleventh hour our Veterans of V.F.W. post 450 celebrated Veteran’s Day with a ceremony at our Veterans Plaza at 117th and Pulaski. Speeches by the Mayor and Post Commander came together with the placement of a wreath and a 21 gun Salute to make an impressive ceremony.

The IBEW / NECA training facility at 115th and Ridgeland recently had an open house attended by many State and Union officials.  Their new facility includes solar arrays (some used for training)
and all used for producing electricity.  In addition a horizontal axis wind turbine that can be lowered hydraulically to the ground to use as a teaching tool and then stood back up to produce electricity.  Their battery building is also a training tool and has three separate electric storage devices.  If that wasn’t enough new technology we can add a solar electric carport that is capable of charging seven electric cars at once.  I was told that there would be a phase II to this project that will shock (no pun intended) and amaze.   I can’t wait!   I hope you’ve noticed the improvements on Pulaski with the new benches, pavers, flower beds, trees, and signage.  Also our new McDonalds at 119th St. is now open for business!!!

In other economic development, the Pilot Truck Center with three restaurants at 127th and Kedzie is completed and open for business.  This facility will produce significant sales tax dollars as well as motor fuel money used for street repairs.  They will soon be holding a job fair hoping to employ Alsip residents!

Finally, the kids are back in school, so let’s be careful out there, and please slow down!

Thanks for reading!
